The Millwood Cafe

The Millwood Cafe is a cafe in Maldon that we first encountered by chance. As a new business they had no online presence and were keen to avoid the high fees of large delivery platforms while still offering customers an easy way to order food online. We designed a warm, welcoming website that shows their menu, opening hours and key information in a way that matches the atmosphere of the cafe. The site is optimised for mobile so customers can quickly check what is on offer and how to visit or get in touch. We built a custom food delivery system that reflects their specific delivery hours and variable delivery pricing based on location. This gave them the flexibility and control of a large platform without having to pay the associated commission fees. Payments were integrated using their preferred providers over time, starting with SumUp and later moving to Square. Even though parts of this delivery feature set have since been removed from the live site, the work demonstrates how a tailored solution can meet a small business need without compromising on user experience.
